At Flemington slight showers fell during the night, preventing auy fast work being done this morning, but the weather is now clearing up. There was a large attendance at Tattersall's last night, and Silvermine was made a firmer favorite than ever at 100 to 30. Britisher and Little John are quoted at Bto 1. Mentmore has lie-u hacked to wia £5000 at 100 to 3, and is vow quoted at 100 to 4. Lesbiu is quoted at .100 to 5, but 100 to 4 is wanted. Silvermine and Sheet Anchor have been heavily backed for the Melbourne Gup at 100 to 4 each. U«veived October 15, 11-10 am. Despite the ugly rumours which are being circulated concerning Silvertniuti, he still maintains his position of first favourite; and 10 to 30 is takea about Him, and 8 "to lis taken about Britisher. Little John is quoted at 100 to 12, Recall 100 to 10, Benbolt and Balcony 100 to 8. Lesbia wts to-day backed to win £30;)0 at 100 to 5, has now shortened a point. The other quotations are St. John 100 to 5 (off), Meattnore and Zeno 100 to 4 (off), Tarpeia, Millstream, and Islander 100 to 3 (off). Paterson will ride Siivermiue, Falloon, Britisher; O'Brien 13«:u Bolt, Ellis, Zeno; Power, Recall; Walker, Mentmore ; Garry, Milletreaia; Olds, Boolka. Mentmore, Zeno, or Silvermine, should furnuk the winner.
