Kimberley Goldfields
j [PKE UNITED PRKSB ASSOCIATION.] ; . Wellington, October 15. I The Evening Post to-night publishes a letter received iv Wellington from a j digger at Kimberley, from which the following- is extracted:— " lam vow 011 what they call the Kimberley, goldfields. Ido not know whatever , caused a rush here. Not one man has as yet cleared hi 3 expenses. There is abeut 30^0 men here now, and I can confidently say there is not one man on the field making wages. Men are clearing out in hundreds every day, and more are not able to go. This rush will turn out to be the greatest duffer that was ever known in the Colonies. If it was in a place that there was any communication with the other colonies there would have been no rush here at all, but it is such an out of the way place that men could not send word back to stop the rush till the hrm was done. Another report is that gold can be got if there was water. No that is false ; also, there is no gold here to pay if they had the Mississippi river ou to it."
