The Aorangi Bridge
TO THE EMTOU OF THJ-. STAR. Si Ei _The letter in your last issue tabued " We'se," is only one of the many ' proofs I have noticed that a strong interest 1 has been aroused amongst the burgesses on the above subject. Will yiiu. allow me a few lines to explain what has been done in the matter since Mr Macarthurs letter, referred to, appeared. A deputation from the district waited on the Manchester Road Board to consult with them aa to the best means to be adopted to secure the object in view— a biidge and road. It was resolved to ask the Manawatu Road Board to hand over the unformed road and the rateable properties attached thereto to the Manche^t .t Road Board. They have consented to do this, details only remaiuiug to be arranged. We have now to ask' the Borough Council for their co-operation, which I am very sure will be heartily given. Take a poll for a special rate as security for the loan required for the bridge, and the thing is as good as done. One thing, Sir, the settlers are fully alive to the present opportunity, and are to a man determined to take advantage of it, and^obtain .something like justice for their much, neglected distrust. Iv this they have been assured of the invaluable assistance of our courteous &1.11.R. — I£in &c., Cockatoo.
