The Superintendent of Police has d received a telegram stating that the o cutter Sovereign of the Seas has-been d wrecked near Port Macquarrie, New jj South Wales. The wreckage was found there on the 25th instant, and includes a board with the name of the> ,_ cutter painted on. It will be rememjj bered that the Sovereign of the Seas a was the cutter in which the Great a Barrier murderers escaped in June >f last. For over a month a strange' a cutter was sighted near Port Macft quarrie, and it was subsequently reported that Caffrey, one of the murd derers, had been seen in Victoria. *• The Great Barrier Island is again >r coming into notorietj. A constablehas been despatched there to arrest a h Imshman who threatened to . shoot h another, who is alleged to have said i. it was a great pity that Caffrey had A gone away so quickly, as he should Lave had a mate.
