A Denton (Texas) newspaper states that Mrs L. Lyles, wife of a business ttian, killed W. B. Roberts the other e veiling. She met him on the etreet, Charged him with slandering her, and asked him to sign a retraction, which lie refused. She persisted in her request, telling him that if he did not sign lie would regret it. He again refused, whereupon she drew a revolver and fired live shots, each bullet taking effect. Roberts died in a few minutes. Mrs Lyles, after snapping the revolver on empty cartridges, walked quickly away, and surrendered to the sheriff.. Roberts leaves a wife and two children. He was formerly Bheriff, and stood high in public estimation. Mrs Lyles has a husband and two children.
