A Family of Thieves

(PEE UNITED PEEBS ASSOCIATION.)

Wellington, This Day.

A family of six — father, mother, two daughters, and two sons — by name Cook, appeared in court this morning to answer charges of wholesale larceny, and receipt of stolen goods. The boys were little fellows, and th© girls of maturer years. For some time complaints have been made of petty thieving, especially of small goods and flowers. Yesterday the two boys were caught in the act of stealing some articles from the front of a general store. On visiting Cook's house, a large assortment of miscellaneous goods, some still bearing shop marks, were found, and this morning a number of tradesmen had quite a busy time at the police station identifying their property. The boys pleaded guilty, and the rest not guilty They are remanded for a week.
