Laying Poison
Fob the guidance of those person! who use poison for the destruction of wild degs or other animals, we quote the following from the Police Offences Aot, clause 15: — "Any person who throws, oasts, drops, or lays, oroauses or procures to be thrown, oast, dropped, | or laid, anj peison (1) en erinany borough or town district, or on or within three chains of any highway of any borough or town distriot, or (3) on any land or premises anywhere, not ia his own actual occupation, or buries any poison in any land at less than two feet from the surface thereof, shall, for every auoh effenos, be liable to a penalty not exceeding £ 1 0." We hare emphasised by italics that peison may not be laid within three chains of any highway, as there is an erronous impression abroad that it may be placed within two chains, or even on any part of an owner's land, so long as it is within a fence or boundary line.
