Revolution in Bulgaria
ARREST OF PRTNOE ALEXANDER. TBEtTTEBS TEtEQHAMsI CONSTANTINOPLE, August 22. Prince Alexander, of Bulgaria, was taken prisoner at Widdin yesterday, while holding a review of troops. Hit deposition haa siao* been proclaimed, and a temporary Gorernment formed by M. M. Zankoff and Kavaveloff (president of the Council of Ministers), who hare teen the authors of the Prince's arrest and deposition. When seized, the Prince resigned quickly, and without resistance. No bloodshed occurred. He has since been escorted out ef the country. The event has created a great sensation in Sophia, the Bulgarian capital, and masses of people hare, on their bended knees, publicly implored the goodwill of the Ozar of Russia. The Russian agent at Sophia has assured the populace of the good feeling of his Majesty towards Bulgaria. Beoeived August 24, 1.38 a.m. CONBTA.XTISOW.B, August 23. A proclamation, whioh has been issued by the provisional government of Bulgaria, invokes the protection of the Czar for the people of that country. LoxDov, August 23. The Times this morning, in a leading article on the coup de etat in Bulgaria, aays it regards the deposition of Prince Alexander as a triumph of Russian dipleniaoy, and a reverse to the English.
