GOOD NEWS AT LAST. TWO OUNCES OF GOLD PEE DAY. Melbobbve, August 19Telegrams from Porth, West Aus« tralia, state that the official reports received there show that the prospectors at Kimberley are getting two ounces of gold per day. ' The following information publised by the Perth Inquirer was telegraphed to the Sydney Morning Herald under date August 4 : — Dehby, July 28. News has reached here that the teams from Derby arrived safely on the fields. A very considerable amount of gold is in the hands of the diggers] The steamship Triumph, from New Zealand with 280 passengers and 144 horses, arrived on the the 23rd. The water supply at Derby for stock and drinking purposes is inexhaustabld. Camels for transport t« the fields have arrived, and they start their first trip in a few days. The steamer Otway arrived on July 14, after a very rough passage. The Catterthun arrived here from Sydney, having landed 200 passengers at Cambridge Gulf. Th© captain reports that the road is bad for vehicles from the Gulf to the geldfields. There are very few people in Derby beyond new arrivals. Sergent Troy has returned from the fields, and brings very favorable news indeed. One party got 920z. and many others 200e., the average being from loz. to £oz. per day each party. One party has just arrived at Derby from the fields with a 20oz. nugget. The steamers Triumph, Catterthun, Simla, and Haverion have arrived with numerous passengers, horses, and heavy cargoes. Cooktowk, August 4. The Bfceasaer Hero, from Cambridge Gulf, brings news that Inspector Hare, the a«w Government resident at Wyndhana, arrived at Cambridge Gulf on the 20th July by the mail steamer Otway, from Freomantle, via Derby. Sergea»t Troy arrived at Dorby on the 14th July from the digging. He is of opinion that the diggers are withholding the fullest information, but all there are getting gold. SdYoral diggers arrived at Cambridge Gulf from tli© goldfields, via o'Don»eH'B route. The gold being got ■was of good quality. The country was bluo slate, and thero ■wore lots of goodlooking qoartz roefa. The diggers are all returning from Wyndjham with rations to the goldfwlde. On the 22nd an employe" on Stockade s'.atiou, close to Cambridge Gulf, gare information that he had seen a digger with two natives and eight paok hore«s, and with £1000 worth of gold in his possession. H© would not give information where he procured the gold, but the locality was not at the present digging**. Stores at the diggings are at fabulous prices, but at Cambridge Gulf supplies are plentiful. Wkllikgton, This Day. The Barquentine May leaves here for Cambridge Gulf and takes a complement of ae?enty passengers bound for Kiwberloy.
