A. wrestling match for the champion* ship of New Zealand took place en Saturday nigiit between Hudson, the present champion, und Dunn champion of Westland, Nelaon, and Marlßbfeugh. The stakes were £25 each. la the first match, Cornish style, Dunn was declared the winner. For the other two, Cumberland and Gtsboo- Roman styles, Hudson was the successful man, this being his 133 rd match. In two months the championbelt will become Hud sen's property if he is not beaten before that time. Dunn leaves for Auckland to-day, and Hudson goes to Wellington. Timabtt, August 16. Thos. Hall, nephew of Sir John Hall, was arr«sted last night on a charge of attempting to murder his wife by admin* istering antimony. Miss Margaret Houston was arrested at the same time. Accused will appear before the Magistate this afternoon. Auckland, August 16. Margaret Eyan, who has been in the Hospital for several weeks, coffering from self-inflicted wounds in the throat, made another desperate attempt at suicide yesterday. She got possession of a knife and again out her throat, but was restrained promptly, and the wound stitched, Ryan was then shut up in a padded cell, but was found soon after to have torn open the wounds in her throat aud attempted to hang herself from the gasalier. -She was removed to the Lunatic Asylum. Wellington, August 16. A deputation, beaded by the Mayor, this afternoon presented Mr Bryce with the addreis got up on his return from England. In the interval it has been bound, and along with the sheets containing the 2873 signatures, handsomely illuminated by the late Mr £. Brandon, who only finished it just before his death. The speeches were merely formal, and the whole ceremony lasted only a few minutes. At the Divorce Conrt on Monday, the cases of Jones v. Jones. Sawkins v. Sawkins, and Webb v. Webb will be taken. The mil list at the Supreme Court, which commenced this morning, is an unusually heavy one, but all cu«es are local and principally of an uninteresting nature.
