She found the Omaha safe at Waitangi having been detained by unfavorable weathef. Having transhipped provisions and stores to the Omaha the Stella left for Pitt's Island on the 10th. She arrived there the same day and made a search for the smuggled goods supposed to he landed by the Alaska (whaler). A quantity of tobacco and spirits were seized there. Hunt, in in whose possession they were, was taken to the Chatham Islands and charged with having smuggled goods i in his possession and a penalty of £100 was inflicted by the Resident Magistrate.
