A despatch dated Detroit, June 20 says : — Two months ago %( Turl" Gori gau, a bank thief, and " Jakey" Blenheim, a noted thief, came here after a bank robbery at Mendota, Illinois, and a similar crime at London, Ontario. They quarrelled over a woman, and Blenheim was nearly killed by Gorgan. The latter fled to Windsor, Ontario, and when Blenheim recovered, he offered to lure Gorgau to the American side if given immunity for tho Mendota job, and the offer was accepted. - On June 19 he fleeced a man of £140, and started for Windsor to escape arrest. Gorgan, who had found Windsor too warm f or.hhn, started at the same time for the American side. Each of the fellows was alone in a rowboat. and they met in midstream. Each recognised the other, and their old hatred was revived. The boats came together, and Gorgan struck at Blenheim with an oar. Blenheim saw if was to be a battle to the death, and" boarded Gorgan's boat.' The two struggled for possession of the oar which Gorgan had and finally went overboard into the water. They struggled desparately. together, .and ' finally, locked in one another's embrace, went to the bottom, just as theboat of a detective, 'who was after Blenheim, was approaching.
