Feilding Borough Council
The ordinary meeting of the CounJ cil was held on Thursday last. Present—F. Y. Lethbridge (Mayor), Crs P. Thomson, Worsfold, Bishop, and Fowles
The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting were read and confirmed, The following correspondence was read : —
From J. Jensen, asking an approach to be made to his place in Manchester street.
From Messrs J. C. Thompson and W. Carthew, trustees of the Wesleyan Church, pointing out the dangerous nature of the crossing at the entrance to the church, the bridge having collapsed, and that they would be willing to make a culvert if the Council would do the filling in.
From Halcombe and Sherwill, re transfer of section of Arnott's property te the Borough.
From Mr Beaufort, libra ran, asking for an increase to to his allowance.
From the secretary of the Wellington Harbor Board, re endowment grants to the Board. From the secretary of the Bail way Reform League, asking the Borough to more that the Member for the district support a motion in the House asking that a commission be appointed to enquire into the present system »f managing the New Zealand Railways. Mr Beaufort's letter was referred te the Library Committee. Mr i Jensen's letter was referred to the Public Works Committee.
Cr Worsfold proposed, and the Mayor seconded, That the request of the trustees of the Wesleyan Church be granted, subject to the approval of the Engineer. — Carried. Cr Fowles proposed, and Cr Thomson seconded, That the sum asked for by Messrs Halcombe and Sherwill re purchase of Mr Arnott's section be paid. — Carried. Cr Fowles brought up the subject of the kerbing opposite certain sections in Manchester street, which had been taken down when the road was widened.
The matter waa allowed to stand over till next meeting.
This was all the business.
