The Hinemoa
The expenses of the steamer Hinemoa £6,500 and £3,500 for a new boiler for her, have been Btruok off the estimates by the ruthless hands of the economists in the Houbo. Mr Obmoxd attacked her as an extravagant luxury, while Messrs Labvaoh and Richardson said she saved £1100 a year to the Government by the work she di«-', which other steamers could not perform. Sir Julius Voobl pleaded tearfully that about 30 members wore at that moment experiencing the benefit of the steamer in Oooks strait, who, but for that, would have been there to make a full house that night. Sir Jvjavs must have cursed the cause of their absence when such an opportunity was thereby" given for the fate of the Hinemoa to be sealed. Verily she was the cause of her own misfortune. Many honorable members will remember her with regret, while the country will give a sigh of relief that a burden has been lifted from it
