The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 1886. The Council and the Ranger
Now that the verdict of the Resident Magistrate in the case Morphy versus Turner has definitely set at rest, or established, the legality of the appointmaut of Mr Turner as Ranger and Poundkeeper for the Borough, we hope that the subject will no longer be brought up at tho meetings of the Council for discussion. Everything that could be said on the question appears to have been said, and much valuable time has been uselessly wasted in the saying. At the meeting this evening we will expect a few words of mutual congratulation to be spoken on the fact that the appointment made by the Council was perfectly in order, and that all legal formalities had been oomplied with by them. The verdict of the Court will be a disappointment to a few, but the general body of the ratepayers will be pleased at escaping from a danger which might have cost them a considerable sum of money in legal expenses had it been otherwise.
