Beloved Brethren
The Bev. J. Watson, of Trinity Church Coburg, Victoria, has, says an Adelaide paper, made an outrageous attack on Bishop Moorhouse from the pulpit. He said the Bishop would explain away the whole Bible if he remained much longer. A new Bible would have to be written for him. He added : "Heis a domineering and overbearing man. and. thank God, he is going ; if he remained much lonsjer we should have an iroc-hand despotism." The attack has excited much indignation. A later telegram state* that the Rev. John Watson justifies his remarks that ue made against Bishop Moorhouse. He says that the latter* s utterances are, in many cases, contrary to the doctrines and formularies of the English Church. The Kev. Mr Watson, on Sunday last, continued his attack on Bishop Moorhouse. The TLev. J. A. Powie alao made a riolent attack on the bishop He said the bishop went home because he would receive £4,000 a year. No true disciple of Christ would leave a small salary for a higher one.
