The N.Z. L. and M. Company report under date of April 22nd :— > Chbistchubch. — Batter. — Unfavourable advices from Sydney have operated to the disadvantage of holders, and prices hare only been nominally maintained. More animation has been displayed during the past tew days, and transactions hare transpired at our quotations. Cheese. — Small cheese, suitable for export to Australia, is in good demand at s£d to 6d. For large sizes the market is easy at 4d to 6d. Potatoes. — The market has hardly opened yet, bat small parcels for immediate delivery have been Jtaken up at 60s f.o.b. For forward delivery growers are asking 4Os at country stations, but buyers do not respond. Auckland. — Butter. — The price of this product is without alteration, the shipments to Sydney by the tw» fortnightly steamers have totalled 2.100 kegs and oases, and a local freezing company have a large stock in the chambers. Cheese. — This remains firm at the rates advised last month. A fair quantity is shipped by every opportunity to Australia and the Islands ; last week's export being 326 cases. Potatoes. — The price for good samples is very firm, and as a rule the crop is of better quality than usual. Considerable business is done at 95s to 100s per (on. Nelson. — Hops. — The market is at a standstill, and it i« difficult to make sales A few small parcels hare been sent away during the month, Wanganui. — Potatoes. — First cla«s lots are worth 80s, but the market is lightly stocked. Quotations for interior qualities are only nominal. New Plymouth. — Butter. — Owing to the unsettled state of the Sydney market shipment from this district has been discouraged, and stocks are accumulating.
