Stdxky, April 27. The conference on the question of jofnt Australian defences has commenced its sittings. The following were the repre* xentatives prevent : -Sir P. Jrnaing« (Premier of New South Wales). Mr (Tillies (Premier of Victoria), Mr Griffith (Premier of Queensland), and Admiral Tryon (for the Imperial (torerament). Nothing has been learnt ns to what took place, the proceedings having been kept secret. The Australian Defencps Conference resumed sitting this evening. Nothing has been allowed to transpire regarding the buiineu transacted.
