ANNUAL ELECTION.

A meeting of householders was held in the schoolhouse last night. The attendance was small. Mr Eade was rated to the chair. The report of the outgoing committee was read and showed the following averages of the attendance roll — 1884. 1885. March quarter .. 290 293 June quarter . . 280 295 j Sept. quarter . . 275 289 Dec. quarter . . 274 279 an increase of 10 for the year. The balance sheet was read showing a balance to credit of £4 6s lOd. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The following committee were then elected — Messrs J. W. Eade, A. R. Curtis, W. Watts, E. J. Cottrell, R. Lankshear, L. Clapham, and H. Worsfold. The committee then met and Mr Watts was elected chairmain, and Mr Worefold secretary. [fbom our own correspohdehts.] balcombk. The annual meeting of householders for the purpose of receiving report of the outgoing committee and the election of a new one, took place here last night. There were five householders present, and only two of them having any children attending school. The chairman read the report and balance sheet. The report showing the incoming committee that they will need funds for necessary repairs, &c. The balance sheet showed no money in hand. The following gentlemen were elected a committee for the ensuing year — Messrs F. J. Bealing, C. Crabb, C. Wapp, A. Tompkins, J. Quarrie, and E. Schwass. AWAHTTRI. In consequence of the wot there was a very small attendance. The outgoing committee's report referred to ) the very unsatisfactory nature of the attendance of the school which made [the committee's funds very low. It also stated that the committee were endeavouring to raise a fund for erection of a shed for the accommodation of pupils, the Education Board having agreed to aid in the matter by giving £ for £ raised locally. The following gentlemen were nominated for the new committee and returned without opposition — Messrs Bennett, Weightman, Worsfold, Campbell, Stewart, McLenaghan, and McMillan. BULLS. The election of School Committee resulted as follows—Messrs Fogan, Read, Remington, Begfj, Flowers, and George. Mr Remington was elected chrirman. The committee decided to keep the school closed until the doctor reported the town free of diptheria.
