After discharging about 100 tons ofcargoatll a.m., an attempt was made to get the Taupo off, which was successful. She is now steaming up to an anchorage.

The steamer Taupo which went ashore near Gisborne, is valued at £22,000, and is insured for about three-fourths her value.

The steamer Taupo returned from Gisborne early this morning and was brought inside and diichargd her cargo. Her hold was perfectly dry, but her propreller was stripped. A spare pro» peller will bo fitted,
