♦ [PSB UNITED PBEBB ASSOCIATION. CHBIBTCHVBCH. April 3. Dr Stewart, who proceeded against the proprietors of the Wellington Evening Press for libel, in connection with an operation at the Christchurch Hospital, is understood to be commencing an action against Dr Nedwill. on the alleged ground that he made certain statements to Mr Wakefield of similar purport to those contained in the article whioh was the subject of the recent action. Wellington, April 5. Sir Julius Yogel intends to establish a system of return post cards, by which answers can be sent back on the same card without additional cost. Dr Newman addressed the electors ot Thorndon to-night, and receiyed a vote of thanks and confidence. The Property Tax valuation tor the City of Wellington, exclusive of Govern* ment and Corporation property, amounts to £3,697,864, and Government and Corporation property to £1,123,964. Auckland, April 5, The Supreme Court criminal sessions opened here to-day. In his charge to the grand jury the Judge said there were 27 charges against 26 persons, including eight Maoris. No charges were of a grave nature.
