The following are the resnlts of con version to the 31 st March, cabled by the Agent- General :— Of the consolidated loan of 1867 the amount brought in for con. version is £589,600. Of the 4^ per cent four- thirties called in for payment by "X months' notice, £1,876,800 has been brought in for conversion. A private cable received to day announces the death of Major Levin, brother to Mr W. H. Levin, merchant, i of Wellington. Messrs W. M. Ballantine and Co.. of Wellington, have received from Messrs Trapp and Ellis, of Sydney, tho following telegram : — " The market is completely glutted with butter. We do not look for any improvement for some time."
