The Wesleyans
The members of the Wesleyan body in Feiiding are to be congratulated on having, by their own quiet but persistent efforts, placed their church building practically out of debt. Some time ago there was a liability on the church of £135, for which the trustees paid a modest rent charge in the form of interest at the rate of ten per cent., £13 10s per annum. In order to relieve themselves of this burden, application was made for assistance to the executive of the Wesleyan body in New Zealand. The reply promptly came informing the trustees that if they reduced their indebtedness to £95, that sum would be loaned to them free of interest or all other charges, to be repaid to the Church Building Loan Fund when most convenient to them and suitable to the congregation on whom the responsibility mainly rested. This welcome intelligence was joyfully received and quickly acted upon. The result was that the necessary amount was raised among themselves and applied to the required purpose. The arrangement for the repayment of the loan is one that will press but lightly on the members of the church, at the same time relieving them of the pressure of a heavy debt. The trustees deserve great credit for the able and successful manner in which they have performed the important duties of their office.
