Mr Beading's New Shop
The following is a description of the new business premises to be known i^ as "the bazaar" which has just been erected for Mr Beading, bookseller, stationer, &c, next Mr Eade's furniture warehouse in Manchester street. The total length of the building, including the verandah, is 70 feet, with 26 feet frontage to the v street, the front elevation being 28 feet from the top of the piles.. The building has an " • .^ upper story containing five rooms, with a passage and landing, and is t / reached by a flight of stairs of 18 steps. The lower part of the building '•': comprises shop, sitting and dining rooms, hall, pantry and scullery. The shop itself is 25 x 25 feet, inside measurement, and is fitted all round with shelves, counters, &c. • The builders were Messrs Hubner Bros., and too much praise cannot be given them for the substantial, workmanlike and altogether excellent manner in which they have carried out their contract. The plans and specifications ' were prepared by Mr Frederick Pope, a few modifications being afterwards agreed upon, and we must say that the design does him great credit, as the building has a very neat, and even ornamental appearance, and its erection has made quite an acquisition* to the business part of the town. Mr J. W. Eade acted as clerk of the work, which has been done, on the whole to the perfect satisfaction of all concerned. The timber which is of first class quality, was supplied from Mr Oorpe's mill at Makino. Mr Eade supplied the sashes, doors, glass, &c, and Messrs Gosling have yet to do the work of painting the structure. Mr Beading opened the new premises on Saturday last with a fine display of goods, and we can only wish him that success which, his enterprise deserves.
