[per united press association.] Wanganui, March 3. The weather is again very fine and bright, with hardly a breath of wind, but the light is not favourable for good shooting. The Auckland match is being continued, and will finish early in the afternoon, after which the Marlborough match (500 and 600 yards), for rifles only, will commence. With the two matches finished, the following are the highest aggregates for the belts : — Rifles. — Sergeant Mooseman, Wanganui City Rifles, 158; Private Downe, Thames Rangers, 156 ; Corporal J. Thomas, Thames Rangers, 150 ; Lieu. Ferguson, Timaru Rifles, 149; Lieu. Watt, Waiinea Rifles, 149; Private McMeikan, Waikara Rifles, 149; Lieu. Flyger, Wanganui City Rifles, 147. Carbines. — Corporal Parslow, Auckland Artillery, 154 ; Sergeant Kucken. Wellington Artillery, 153 ; Corporal McKenzie, Wellington Artillery, 150 ; Gunner Bunting, Napier Artillery 148 ; Sergeant VVebb, Wellington Artillery, 148 ; Seaman Machoney, Wanganui Navals, 144. The following are the highest aggregates for the Rifle Championship up to the end of the Marlborough match : — Volunteer Downie (Thames), 211; Sergeant Mooseman (Wanganui), 209 ; Captain Acheson (Riverton), 209. This Day. Weather again fine, but a little dull. The prize list for the Wanganui match all coiners, has been drawn up. 38 prizes will be awarded, the highest being £20, £12, and £8. Auckland ammunition will probably be tried on Saturday, and Whitney, the manufacturer, offers a prize of £5 for the highest score. The following are the three highest scores in Nelson match, for carbines only, and counting for Belt :— Gunner Foster (Port Chalmers), 77, £10 ; Trooper Craig (Alexandra Cavalry) 76, £6 ; Lieutenant Waters (Port Chalmers), 75, £6. Latest. The Wanganui match has been commenced, and Parslow who was leading for the Carbine Belt has fallen back. Kuchen is now leading by seven points, Parslow next, and Perry third. Downie still leads for the RiHe Belt. Parslow alleges his back sight has been maliciously tampered with.
