About six o'clock this morning, when the Hawea was about twenty miles from this port, a lunatic, named Kaye, managed to get through the port- hole of the bathsroom unobserved, and went overboard, and was drowned. It appears that Kaye whs being conveyed to Wellington in charge of a keeper, his sister i and brother-in-law having recently arrived from England for the purpose of taking ; him home in the Araws, which leaves Wellington on Saturday morning. Auckland, March 3. Tho Hon, J. A.. Tole, Minister of Justice, addressed his constituents tonight. There was a large attendance, and he was well received. Mr Tole thought a dissolution was necessary to enable the electors to pronounce emphatically whether our unfinished colonial works should be completed or remain at a standstill. A vote of confidence was carried.
