[PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Blenheim, March 2. John Collett, a jockey, has been charged with assault witb intent on a girl of 15 years <>f age, a domestic servant. He has been committed for trial, bail being allowed. It is stated that the parties in* tend to marry before the trial. Wellington, March 2. The Governor had a long interview with Sir Julius Yogel this morning, and a meeting of Ministers was afterwards held, but the object of the deliberations have not yet been made public. This Day. A deputation of some dozen Maoris wait on Mr Ballance to-day ro land matters at Taupo. A cabinet meeting was held last night. A seaman, named James Chyne, was lost overboard on tbe last voyage of the S.R Luhrs from here to Newcastle. New Plymouth, March 3. About six o'clock this morning, when the Hawea was about twenty miles from this port, a lunatic, named Kaye, managed to get through the port- hole of the bathsroom unobserved, and went overboard, and was drowned. It appears that Kaye whs being conveyed to Wellington in charge of a keeper, his sister i and brother-in-law having recently arrived from England for the purpose of taking ; him home in the Araws, which leaves Wellington on Saturday morning. Auckland, March 3. Tho Hon, J. A.. Tole, Minister of Justice, addressed his constituents tonight. There was a large attendance, and he was well received. Mr Tole thought a dissolution was necessary to enable the electors to pronounce emphatically whether our unfinished colonial works should be completed or remain at a standstill. A vote of confidence was carried.
