The N.Z.L. & M.A. Company, under date, 25th February, 1886, report:—' The more satisfactory tone of the Home market noted in our last i»su» has continued during the month under reriew. Telegraphed advices still quote New Zealand prime mutton «i sdtoHDuneddt. — The s.s. Elderslie, wliich was leading we last reported, has since departed with 13,756 carcases mutton, and. 2,623 lambs -Jroin the works at Burnside, also '9,351 sheep and' lambs prepared at Other ports, in all 35,740 carcases, i The New Zealand Refrigerating Company, between their two establishments; are now killing ::bout 1,000 sheep per day and have engaged tonnage for 63,000 carcases up to the end of June. <The first steamer to leave Port Chalmers will be the s.s. Aorangi, with about 4,000 carcases, and will be followed by the ship Invercargill with between, 10,000 and 11,000 Christchurch.— The s.s. Arawa left this port on the 23rd inst. with 1,894 carcases mutton and 6,121 lamb. The loading of the ship Wellington is almost completed ; her cargo consists of about 13,000 carcases lanjbanftTo'O carcases mutton. At Belfast ;i sliip~ mentof 6,500 carcases is being pnap|ared for the E.M.S. Tongariro to js>ad nej^ week. Operations at the Belfast J^xing Works will be suspended oii the 2nd proz. to place the new maohin^y and to complete the enlargement ; of the factory. , . . Timabtt. — Our local refrigerating company has. just completed a cargo of some 8000 carcases for the Lady Joce> lyn, which will load at Port Chalmers. The works will be fully ocoupieji for some time- preparing cargoes for the Matauraand Lyttelton, which v will load here, Wellingtox.— The following shipments from this port have been made during the month : — Per B.M.S. Kaikoura — 6,096 carcases mutton, 895 lambß, 58 quarters beef, and 184 pieces. Per Doric— 7,560 carcases and 4,178 legs mutton, 2,071 lambs 76 quarters and 215 pieces beef. Napier.— The following shipments have been made since last report :—r_ Doric — 9,709 carcases, 1,628 legs l 143 haunches frozen mutton, 582 carcases lamVs, 86 quarters beef, 34 bags kidneys.
