Manchester Road Board
A meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday. Present — Messrs Macarthur (chairman), Bailey, Whibley, F Y. Lethbridge. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read: — From Thomas Flynn, offering to construct Henderson's Line for 40 : chains, the Board to repay jhim in two years from the date of completion^ of the work. From Warne and Beard, asking that a portion of the Pohangina road be metalled, commencing from the present metalling and to be continued as far as can be done for £300. They offered to find £150, to be repaid by the Board when in funds. From Messrs Holdeh, Fry, and A. ' Bell, calling the attention of the Board to the bad condition of the Makino road, and asking that certain repairs be done at 1 once. ! '• " : '■'■'.'.: .' From Mr Aldrich, on behalf of settlers on the Bunnythorpe-Ashurst road, proposing to reform and metal a mile (more or less) of the road at £3 5s per chain, provided such money is repaid when the Board is in funds. From Thomas Flynn, asking permission to fall the bush on Flynn's line, from Peck's to the end of/ his section. , From Walker and Hatrick, cancelling a certain order. From two butchers in Ashurst,' applying for a renewal of their slaughter licenses ! ;-f From A. Nannestad, asking for certaiu sections to be transferred to Christian Jansen. From Mr Tyler, asking that section No 139 be transferred to Messrs Lance and Wilde. .■.••-/• From R. Menzies, junr., asking that section Gt 3a be transfered to James Fisher. • r l . From the secretary of theKiwitea Road Board, directing attention to the bad state of that portion of the Poi hangina road between Ashurst and the boundary line of the Harbor Board <Block. ; f From A. D. Thomson, Clerk to the Licensing Committee, reminding the Board that next month is the time for the annual election of committeemen for the Ashurst district. ! Mr Macarthur proposed and Mr Lethbridge seconded, Thatthe requests of Messrs Menzie and Fisher, Tyler, Wylde and Lance, Nannestad and Jansen, re alteration in rate book^ be granted. — Carried, Mr Macarthur proposed and Mr Lethbridge seconded, That- Messrs Riddiford and Rumble's application , for slaughtering licenses be granted. — Carried. Mr Whibley proposed and Mr Macarthur seconded, That Messrs Warne and Beard's offer of metalling Pohangina road be accepted according to the terms of their letter, and any expense of repair pver and above the ordinary*^^ maintenance to be borne by them.-" :■>- Carried. Mr Macarthur proposed and Mr Lethbridge seconded, That Mr Flynn's application to fell 14 chains bush, from Mr Peek's section to the end of sections 28 and 29 be granted on the Board's usual terms. — Carried. Mr Macarthur proposed and Mr Lethbridge seconded, That Mr Aldrich's and Mr Flynn's offers be accepted, subject to the condition that the money be not paid until after two years from the completion of the works. — -Carried. Mr Whibley proposed and Mr Bailey seconded, That the dog tax for 1886 be the same as last year (10s) and the collection fees the same. — Carried. Accounts amounting to £679 2s 7d were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned.
