A prisoner named James Cameron, alias Barlow, hanged himself in the lookup here last night. Prisoner was being taken to Masterton to answer a charge of obtaining money under false pretences. It appears that he took a strapwhioh he had previously concealed on his person and fastened it to the grating of the cell and then slipped his head through the noose.
