Salisbury Ministry Resign
[BEtTUBB' TBLKGBAMB.I : London, January 28. , An official messenger has arrived at Osborne, where Her ' Majesty the Queen, is now stopping, announcing the resignation of the Marquis of Salisbury and his colleagues. * In the House- of Commons to* Bay Sir Michael Hicks-Beach announced the resignation of the Ministry, and added that Her Majesty, the Queen, had summoned the Marquis of Salisbury to proceed to Osborne. : ■• * ' The House of Commons has adjourned until Monday. v :J ' 1;: i . - i :' ;; : -:'':■:■■': January 27. The Government were defeated by 329 against 250. Mr Gladstone supported Mr Colling's amendment; ana the Marquis of Hartington, Hon. (i. J. GkMchea, Sir Henry James, Sir John Lubbjck, Mr Leoaard Courtney, and other Liberals Toted with the Government. The Marquis of Salisbury has tendered the resignation of the Ministry. In consequence of the Whiff defection, it is considered doubtful whether Mr Gladstone will be able to form a Cabinet.
