The Severed Hand Mystery

TRIAL OF HOWARD AND CO. [PEB CNITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chbistchubch, January 25. Mr and Mrs Howard and the two Godfreys were brought up again at the Police Court this morning on a charge of conspiring to defraud. There are 45 witnesses. The Crown Prosecutor said he would show that the female prisoner was not Howard's wife, and that Howard met the Godfreys at Taylor's Mistake on the day when the hand was found, also that when Godfrey met his brother at the police station he said, " Hullo Fred ; you had better make a clean job of it." After taking evidence proving that Howard took out policies, and had transferred them t-> Mrs Howard, the court adjourned until to-morrow.
