Fire at Taonw
:9— — Yesterday afternoon a fire broke out close to Mr AcUett's miUj and in a : short space of time the mill and houses near were surrounded by a mass of, flame. : A number of the .houses of thej men were burnt entailing a great loss , on the occupier* ; fortunately by great; exertions, and the wind calming down' [ the mill was saved. A quantity of ; lately felled bush belonging to Messrs ; Bailey' Bros., was burnt and the housss ] along Adsett's line were iv a perilous < situation, being surrounded by fire ] but happily so far they have esoaped, i although the logs and stumps lying \ around are still burning. On a mes- 1 sage arriving at Messrs; Bailey's mill, < all hands at once went to the assistance of their neighbour, accompanied < by horses -and trucks to remove ] timber, . furniture, &c. , >in f aot every ( onet who could do anything went, and it was. only by, great exertions that the ] flames were prevented from att&oking i the mill. A .large quantity of tram- \ was burnt belonging to Mr Adsett as well ,as fencing of his aud others. \
