Feilding Jockey Club

1 The report of Mr Franklin, the seccratary of the Feilding Jockey Club, . as presented to the meeting held in the Public Hall on Saturday evening ; last, may be considered eminently satisfactory. The names of all our ' most influential citizens and business [ men appear on the list of subscribers , and members. It will be seen from our report of the meeting, which ap- ' pears in another column, that the i officers elected are " each and all of 1 them" the right men in the right ' places. ' The day selected, Easter Monday, which falls on April 26th, will not clash with any other race meeting on -his coast. We may therei fore assume that the entrances will be numerous, and each event contested by good fields of horses. On Saturday evening next the committee will meet at Mr Hastie's Hotel, when a programme will be drawn up for publication, and other matters of detail settled. We would suggest to them that the services of Mr S. Abraham's totalisator be secured without delay. This, instrument has done excellent service both at Palmerston and Awahuri, and ought therefore to serve our turn quite as well, if not better, than any other obtained from a distance. Being the property of so near a neighbor it may be looked upon as a "local institution," and should be patronised accordingly. We hope the stewards will accept our counsel in this matter.
