STEVENS AND GORTON'S STOCK REPORT.
During the present week we have held two stock sales — at Feilding on the sth, at Palmerston on the 7th. We had a veiy large attendance at Feilding doubtless owing to a large portion of the stock being unreserved and considering the exceedingly dry season and the fall in the price of stock m consequence. The prices obtained at that sale were satisfactory. We yarded considerably over 300 head of cattle and 1500 sheep. We sold nearly all the cattle and every pen of sheep excepting one small pen of fat sheep. Prices : Fat cows, £4 1/- to £4 ,9/- ; 3-yr steers, £3 15/- ; 18---mo to 2-yr mixed, £2 15/6; 12 to 18rmo steers, £2 7/6 ; cows with calves, £2 12/6 ; milkers. £2 to £5 15/- ; fat mixed sheep. 6/5 to 7/4; ewes with lambs, lambs mixed, 3/4 and 3/5 ; store pigs 4/3 to 8/-. We had fair entries at the Palmerston sale, but were not able to quit stock in same proportion. Buyers being frightened of the continued fine weather. Prices : Beef, L 6 2/6 ; forward steers, L 5 15/-; 3-yr steers L 4 2/6 ; store cows L 2; . 18-months heifers, 28/ r ; fat wethers 8/- ; fat lambs 5/6. Bulk, January 9th, 1886.
