Occasional cases of cholera havo occurred in Venice and Trieste. Mr Parnell has received a large remittance from America toward* ihe Parliamentary Fund. The Servian forces have evacuated Widdin. Prince Alexander hat made a triumphal entrj into Sofia. Mr Gladstone hat announced that he will await the publication of the Minis* tonal policy before announcing hit proa posalt on the Irish question. The members of the Orange body have been thrown into a state of intent* excitement by the rumoured intention of Mr Gladstone to advocate the granting of a local Parliament to Ireland- They threaten that they will raise a civil war if the attempt is made to fulfil this ptlioy, Mr Goschen has announced his hostility to the scheme. The daily Telegraph this morning says the statement made in the Tines on Saturday that Mr Gladstone had sub* aaitted to the Queen a plan for the establishment of an Irish Parliament, and that her Majesty had referred it to her Ministry, is unfounded. The redaction in cable charges for Press messages which was expected to coma into operation at the commence* ment of the New Year, will not, it hat been decided, take effect until March. Mr Gladstose has especially disavowed any intention on hit part to grant the demands of the Parnellitie party, viz.. that Home Kule should be granted to Ireland. Mr Childers and Mr John Morley have expressed themselves at being favourable t« the scheme with which Mr Gladstone has been associated. The Sight Hon. W. £. Forster is very ill. His medical attendants state that he is in a critical condition. He is suffering from an affection of the brain. Cairo, December 88. General Stepbcnson, commander ef the British troops at Wady Haifa, has arrived at the front, and is now actively engaged ia preparation for the repulse of the rebels. Received December 31, 2.45 a.m Pabis, December 30. The President of the .Republic has accepted the resignation of M. Brisson, and summoned M. de Freyeiuet to form a Cabinet. M. de. Freyomet has not definitely acceded to M. Gray's request and hesitates t» undertake the task. Received Deoember 31. 11.20 a.m. London, Deaember 30. Advices from the Afghan Bounday Commission state that the difficulty has been overcome by the boundary Hue having been fixed at Marucbak. Members of the Commission have now completed their preparations for going into winter quarters.
