Our Butchers' "Christmas Cheer"

♦ The display of meat and poultry last night in the shops of our local butchers was very gcod, each shop attracting a large number of admirers. " l«XO;ionj^ . had beef bred' by Mr Oliver, of Makino road ; veal from the farm Of Mr] Holden: mutton bred by Brennan and Marshall; 1 'Kimbaltdh road ; and lamb from the farm of Mr GarUck, Ashurst road, the whole of which looked very tempting. Mb RUTHERFORD. The first item in'the shop which attracted atontion was some beef from prize heifers : bred" "in '"Napier"! and fattened by Mr Downes on his -farm, "Kimbolton road; nei**; came tbe mutton bred; by Mr Charles 7 Bull.; lamb from Mr Taylor, of Makino; veal from Mr Vy'Y. Kthbridge!B}run;-and pork grtwn by M^ Rutherford himself, all St"- prime ccmditioh and beautifully > dressed. ; ' Mb Lnrxow also had a good disphiy. His beef comprised isi' heifer bred in Hawera, and from a bullock reared, by "Mr H. H. Burrell; his- lamb; waa grown by Mr A. .Bell, of Makino ; and his mutton from the farm of Mr. George Wheeler, also qf Makino ; .while Mr Richardison, of the. same place, sup. plied the veal. The "small goods" in each shop, were beautifully got up, and from the .numerous customers tiiey obtained, public* Opinion appears to have been much in their favor. Taken as a whole we do not think any other township on the coast had such a eplendid^show of Christmas Cheer as we h^d^Feilding last night.
