PALMERSTON RACES.

(Flaneur's Tips.) The Boxing Day meeting at Palmerston will be well attended, and though the fields will be small, some good contests may be looked for. As for the actual winners I think I need not alter my previous remarks on that subject. To be brief, I will place them thus for the different events, viz., Palmerston Guineas — Germaine 1, Laurel 2, Bayard 3. Hurdles — Porotawa 1, Rambler 2, Patent Safety 3. Maiden Plate — Leader 1, Ivy Leaf 2, Gallant 3. Flying Handicap — Laurel 1, Bayard 2, Parvenu 3. An esteemed correspondent, " Old Mortality," writes : Sir,— As the sporting notes of your talented correspondent " Procyon" appear to be" among the things that are past," kindly permit mo to venture on a few tips for the forthcoming Palmerston races. For the Palmerston Guineas Germaine with her light impost of 6st slb ought to havo a great^say. However, I shall adhere to my old friend Laurel and place them thus — Laurel 1, Germaine 2, Bayard 3. Flying Handicap— Lady Florence or Bayard 1, Parvenu or Laurel next up. For the Hurdles I should fancy Totara (if in his old form) or Porotawa with Patent Safety well up. Rambler, though well spoken of, I know nothing of, so cannot place him.
