Kiwitea Road Board
— ♦ . A meeting of the above Board was held here on Saturday, the 19th inst. Present— WardensTaylor (Chairman), Tyermau, Saxon, and Bruce. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Following correspondence was read : From- United Charitable Aid Board. From Messrs A. Dalziel and J. Hastie, re transfer on rate book of «ections in the Cheltenham township. From the secretary of the Palmerston Prospecting Association, asking the Board to assist in developing the -Pohangina reefs, and enclosing a letter from the Mines Department. • ; From A. Dallas, re dog collars. Voucher from the Treasury for Crown Lands rates. From Mr F. Owen, with plan of deviation on Cheltenham Cross road. - From Manchester Road Board re certain expenditure on Wilson's Line. From Wanganui Harbor Board, with rates for year 1884-5. From District Survey • Office, re suspension of work on the Pohangina load contract. . * . From John Curran,. re . falling road line (held ovor from last tneetiug.) Warden Bruce moved, and Warden Tyerman seconded,' That alteration of name in rate book from A. Dalziell to J. Hastie be made as requested. — Carried. Resolved, That the Clerk obtain 100 dog collars for next year. . Warden Saxonproposed and Warden Tyerman seconded, That Mr E. Goodbehere be appointed dog tax collector for 1886, fee to be 2s for every ratepayer's dog, and 5s for every nonrrafepayer'sdog; that the tax be for every dog owned by ratepayers ss, ior every dog owned by non-ratepayers lOs.-T-Carried. Resolved, That the Kiwitea Road Board has no funds available for purpose required by Palmerston Prospecting Association. Proposed by Warden Saxon, seconded by Warden iJruee, That the Clerk write to the GovenmlellG .♦requesting payment of amount of money •expended, underthe Roads andßridges Construction Act, on thfr Cheltenham xoadV over and above the amount received on account of this work.— Carried. Proposed by Warden Tyerman, seconded by Warden Bruee, That the Clerk write to Mr Bruce, the member for the district, and request him to support the Board's application. — - Carried. Resolved, That a cheque be drawn on general . account to pay overdraft ~on imprest account. Proposed by Warden - Taylor, .seconded by Warden , Saxon, That the Clerk make application to the hospi- ! tal authorities as to how long the patient Hunter will her likely to require medical treatment, or when he will be able to be removed from the hospital. — Carried. .."..:: Resolved, That Mr' Curran ; be allowed to fall bush on road line on the Board's usual terms, to be paid in 1 turn with other applicants? ' . Waifden Saxon moved and Warden Tyerman seconded, That a petition be drawn, up for presentation to the Government, requesting the removal of the present charges for loading wool, grain, &c.« and that the same be for* warded to the chairmen of -the different local bodies for signature.—Carried.
