A Nice Clergyman
In Plymouth, England, on November 5, the Rev. Stewart Ross, formerly rector of Christ Church, Belfast; Ireland, was addressing the Plymouth Young Men's Christian Association when Mr Charles Joy, Canadian Emigrant Commissioner, burst into the room and shouted — " You hypocrite ! You eloped with my wife !" Mr Boss turned pale, and fled from the room. The audience was surprised and excited, but the moment they realised what was the matter, they became a howling mob, and pursued their lecturer for a mile, yelling all the time. At this point Boss, who was breathless and driven to bay, turned suddenly and stabbed two of the most active pursuers. The others coming up at the tune seized and disarmed the murderous rector. The police then put in an appearance and arrested Li. a. He was taken before the Magistrate, when several charges were lodged against him, and he was remanded for a week, without bail. It has transpired that Boss disappeared from Belfast two years ago, leaving his wife unprovided f<ir. Mrs Joy was found in prisoner's lodgings. When informed of Boss' arrest, she gloried in her connection with "the Lord's annotated," as 'she called him. She attested in Court, and sat in a brazen manner throughout the whole proceedings.
