Pohangina Reefs
Mr J. H. Anderson came down from the reef to Ashurst on Saturday, and in a letter we hare ..received from/ him he says :— " I have just arrived from the El Darado of the north, to report progress. We hare succeeded in driving in 30 .feet and; have now struck the reef. The driving has been very. difficult hitherto, •wing to the nature #f the ground, which is composed of pug and large bowlders, b'«t I am happy^to say we have now got through it and laid hpre the reef, which Mr Eelf pronounces to be a splendid sample of stone,;. and which when fully developed will give entire satisfaction to the shareholders. I may say Mr Self and myself proceeded alone the surface of the proprietors' claim and found tke reef cropping tut for a distance of about tea chains. Mr J. Bray, of Peildinf, who is an : exporieneed miner, also inspected it, and pronounced it. to be the same re* f, and also expressed the cenviction that the whole thing would turn out right. I will sent you a sample of the sione, which Mr Eel f says will greatly improve as we get further into the reef .— Manawatu Times.
