BATTLE LASTED THBEE HOUBS. BUEMESE POSITIONS CAEEIED BY ASSAULT. Received November 19, 11-45 a.m. Bahgoow, JJoTember 18. Major - General Frendergast announces that the British forces have captured Mintah. The fighting was of a very stubborn character, lasting fully three hours. The whole Burmese positions was carried by assault. The British loss is slight. Major-General Frendergast if no# advancing upon Mandalay. / Calcutta, November 18. Inteliigence from Burmah states the British forces operating on the Irrawaddy captured Mi"*T* without much opposition. Obstinate resistance was however offered by the enemy at the palace on the opposite side of the river, the engagement lasting several hours. The Burmese suffered heavy loss. "
