Wanganui Education Board
The ordinary monthly meeting on ■ Tuesday last. Present — Messrs Watt (in the chair), Sanoon, Baker, Bridge, Fry, and Rev. Mr Ross. The Inspector was also present Fmmhho.— Letter stating that they required some 25 new desks, and that the ventilation of the building is bad. —The Inspector confirmed the statement about the ventilation, which had not been properly arranged for in the new building. — Agreed that the desks bo furnished, the secretary to collect as many as possible from schools that have desks to spare. Letters were read from the Feilding School Committee requesting the board to make a change in the teaching staff, owing to the unsatisfactory results of the examination, and urg- ' ing that there were no extenuating circumstances. A long discussion ensued, and the inspector having been interrogated as to the cause, it was finally resolved. " That the regulation of the board re discipline be paticularly pointed out to Mr Dowling, and that the board considers his disregard of that rule has been the cause of the poor results at the late examination, and it expects that he will accept all the responsibility thrown upon him by the regulation referred to." Buhnythoepe. — It was resolved, That Mrs Boddy«be transfered to the infant department at Feilding, and that her place be filled by a male certificated teacher. Haloombe. — It was resolved to inform Mr Honore, of this school, that the board is very displeased with his conduct at the kte examination, inasmuch as he did not schedule a sufficient number of children in the first standard, and that the paper work for the examination prepared under the supervision was very Dadly done.
