THE J.P. QUESTION.
TO THE EDITOR «F THE STAB. Sir, — It is most disgraceful that a Cabinet Minister should so abuse the confidence placed in him as to confer favors to wipe out old obligations. By so doing the individual in question has been the means of depriving the Feilding people of the services of the four gentlemen who have justresiguedf rom the Commission of the Peace, thus leaving the Borough with only one* J.P. It is bad enough when such things are done for party purposes, but for the purpose above it is' simply contemptible. The electors will see by the resignation of D. H. • Macarthiuy Ewj., from the roll of J.P.s that it was not he who. recommended Mr E. H. Wright to bea Commissioner of the Peace. It was reported iv the j town that he did so for election purposes, and I am glad to see the settlers are now. undeceived. Apologising for troubling you, I am, &c, : Ben. Gosling.
