STOCK REPORT.
Messrs Stevens and Gorton report as follows :— We have held two stock sales since our last report— at Awahuri on October 6, and at Palmers ton on Oct«l c. 13. At Awahuri every cattle pen was filled as well as some of the sheep yards, many more cattle coming forward than advertised. We also yarded 6 pens of sheep. The attendnuce was fair, aud the bidding for .cattle spirited, but not so for the sheep. We sold nearly all the cattle, but could nat manage to quit al! the sheep. Prices— Pat cows, £4 15s ; 3-yr steers, £4 18s ; 18« mo steers, £2 4s 6d ; c*ws, £2 10s to £2 15s; 2-yr heifers, £2 5s to £2 14s ; Yearlings (mixed), 26s to 31s ; weaners and year steers, 33s ; tat sheep, 12s, At Palmerston we had good entries of both cattle and sheep. The attendance was good and the bidding more spirited than at last Palmetston sale, resulting in our selling most of the cattle under the hammer. The demand for sheep was not so great. Prices— 2 to 2|-yr steers, £3 8s 6d to £3 17s 6d ; 2\ to 3-yr steers, £5 4s ; 2-yr steers, £3 3s 6d ; 2-yr (mixed), £2 10; year heifers, £1 7s 6d; year steers, £2 ; fat ewes, 11s 6d ; ewes and lambs, 12s.
