THE GOVERNOR AT BULLS.

(from our owk correspondent.) Bolls, October 12. The morning broke with a gale of wind and rain, damping the hopes of all residents of the Lower Rangitikei, but about seven there were indications of a change for the better, and the Reception Committee, under the energetic guidance of Col. Gorton, soon began to have the decorations well forward, and by 10 a.m. everything was in readiness. At a quarter to 1 1 an orderly arrived from Marton, informing Captain Stevens that the Marton Rifles could not face the gale. The Royals' Baud, though, arrived soon after, and was one of the features of the demonstration, their scarlet uniforms and plumes being an excellent contrast to the dark blue of the Mounted Rifles. The Mounted Rifles fell in at 9 a.m. and formed the guard of honor. Captain Stevens is to be congratulated on the splendid physique of the men under his command. The many evolutions gone through demonstrated what can be done in a short time with officers and men who take a delight in their drill. The town was crowded with visitors and everyone seemed bent on enjoyment. His Excellency arrived at 11.5, and was received by the Chairman of the - Town Board, Mr A. E. Remington, Membors of Town Board, and Eeoeption Committee. Mr Remington read the usual address to which his Excellency replied after which three ringing cheers were given and the band struck up the National Anthem. The school children who had been provided with, a raised platform also sang the Anthem. His Excellency then re-entered his carriago and was driven to the Town Hall, where he was met by the Curate, the Kevd. J. C. Dodwell, the Churchwardens, and Vestry, and was conducted to the raised dais, where the Rev. J. C« Dodwell read an address thanking His Fxcellency, to which a suitable rejoinder was made, and His Excellency declared the Bazaar duly opened. After making a tour of the building and expressing great satisfaction at the many beautiful and useful articles displayed, the Vice-Regal party drove to the residence of J. G. Wilson, M.H.R., where they were entertained at lunch, after which they returned to the tram at Greatford.

The Bazaar was an unqualified success, the room being crowded by anxious buyers, the pecuniary results being all that could be desired. Mrs Dodwell and the ladies' committee are to be congratulated on the success that has crowned their efforts. The Marton Royal Rifle Band discoursed sweet music to a large concourse of citizens during the afternoon, which was thoroughly enjoyed. Herr Norberg and Miss Norbergwere in charge of the music inside of the Hall and greatly enhanced the afternoon's enjoyment. Tnis Day. The total amount realized at the Bazaar yesterday was £102.
