The Member for Randtikei

Mr Bruce, the member for Rangitikei, is beginning to find out, as we told him at the time, that he made a mistake in supporting Captain Bussell's motion to stop public works. His constituents wants to know why the Hunterville section of the North Trunk Line is not being proceeded! with, as tenders had been receired for it. Mr Bruce therefore telegraphed as follows to the Minister for Public Works: — "Is the Hunterville contract to be gone on with?" and he got the following answer: — " In reply, cannot let any further contracts on Marton-Te Awamutu line this year. The amount taken off the vote leaves only barely sufficient to cover existing liabilities. — Edward Richardson." Mr Bruce will find it difficult to satisfactorily explain his conduct to his constituents. — Post.
