Fire at Masterton

Mastbhton, October 6.
A fire broke out at Masterton this afternoon, which destroyed Macara and Hood's stables and Shaw's stables ; also Eoultry houses, dog lrpnnel*. and otitou tea attached to the Club Hotel. The wind shifted at a critical moment, and saved the Club Hotel and one of the most rnluable blocks in Masterton, including the Borpu^li Council Chambers. The Club; Hotel wax insured for L4OOO in four offices, including the Northern and National; Mnotra and Ho»d'i stables L3OO in -the North British ; fodder, L 20 0; office, L 25 ; cottages, LSO.
