LrBB VKITBB PBBM ASSOCIATION. N apish, This Day. During the last three weeks an important native gathering has been held at the rear of Tongariro. Over 1200 natives and representatives of all the principal interior tribes were present. The object of the meeting is to cement the union of the native race. The following resolutions were passed: — (1) Recognition of the king of the natives; (2) maintenance of friendly relations with the Europeans ; (3) abolition of the Native Lands Court ; (4) abolition of special representation in the General Assembly; (5) withdrawal of all lands from sale, lease, and survey pending the arrival of Mr Gorst from England; (7) though no obstruction would be offered to the construction of railways consent should not be given to them, and all land taken for railways should be paid for; (8) that the liotel at Otokano be shut up. 600 took the total abstinence pledge.
