Mr Stout introduced a Bill to amend the Municipal Corporations Act.- MrTole introduced the Supreme Court Reporting Bill. CAPTAIN BUSSELL'S MOTION. Mr Buchanan resumed the debate on Captain Russell's amendment to the motion for gfting into Committee of Supply, That the Public Works Estimutet should be reduced by £500,000, and Mr Moss's amendment, That it is not desirable to stop public works already in progress. He supported the amendment of the member for Hawke's Bay. — Captain Russell's was then put and carried on the voices. — Mr C'Callaghan mored an addition to the motion* : Provided that such reduction skall not' affect any public works in the nature of roads and bridges. He had great faith in the Government, and he was far from going into Opposition. Wellington, This Day. In supply — Napier- Wood ville and Palmerston, £J 14.100. The Municipal Corporations Amendment Act was read a second time without much opposition. Also the clause pro* posed in the Counties Amendment Act, covering County Councillors and Members of Road Boards. The clauses are retrospective.
