Fire Insurance
A meeting of insurers was held yesterday afternoon at Mr Bray's office to consider a communication from the Palmerston Insurers. Mr William Bailey presided.
The secretary, Mr Sandilands, read the report of the meeting recently held in Palmerston, from the Manawatu Times.
In reply to a question, the secretary said he had not yet received any reply from the office he had written to in Tasmania.
Mr Kirton moved, That the Feilding Insurers join with Palmerston in inviting the manager of the Manchester Fire Assurance Company to visit the district and examine the risks with a view to taking them over at the lower rates.
Mr P. Bartholomew seconded the motion, and it was carried.
Mr Bartholomew proposed and Mr Bray seconded, That a copy of the above resolution be sent to Mr T. B. Walton, secretary of the Palmerston Association.
In order to pay certain expenses it was agreed to make a charge of 2s 6d per head. This was at once paid by all present.
A vote of thanks was passed to. Mr Bray for his kindness in allowing the use of his room for the meetings of the Association.
The usual compliment to the ohairman terminatod the proceedings.
